keyboardr rocks!

keyboardr.com, since its release on monday, had a great time.

A lot of blogs mentioned keyboardr. Our favorite:
“Use Keyboardr for a while and the ‘old’ google suddenly feels like Windows 95.” - thenextweb.com

Community

Communities, like the one from Twitter, provided a lot of great feedback and helped us with issues, like the Tab-key-issue, which broke Chrome-Tabs: Tweet.

Our official twitter account is: keyboardr
My personal account is: julius_eckert
Anything related to keyboardr (eg. feedback, questions, issues, webresources), is welcome in our friendfeed room. Especially you are welcome!

Tips and Tricks

By the way, keyboardr works great with Tabs, so if you are on Safari, this might be helpful.

Some users popupblockers made their results inaccessible. Always make sure you are the one in control.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, pressing ESC resets the search, takes you back to the clock instantly !

One thing only a few know is, google is a all-in-one search. Try searching for “imdb Matrix”. Or “lastfm james brown”. Or “php str_replace”.

A feature often missed by the users eye, is the “All results” links to get the full version of each search engine. E.g. you need to calculate “5+5”, “define:word” or check “weather cologne” then you just open “All results” from Google, right above the results, to get your answers from Google. We have changed the interface today, to clarify this.

What’s next ?

We are very motivated and hard working on more features and updates. Today’s update, decreased keyboardr’s size for 70%, to 40kb. Which is especially good for iPhone users (got an iPod Touch 2G. Anyway keyboardr uses alot of bandwith while searching, so take care if you got a limit).

One feature which is definetely coming, is that you will be able to start a search query from the addressbar, enabling technologies like firefox keywordsearch, firefox searchbox, quicksilver websearch and many more.

Thanks

Thanks to all users and anyone who is providing feedback.

Greetings to Cologne.

Hopefully, this page will stay online for a very long time, unlike so many others. I stumbled keyboardr.com, liked it and start using it all over. Please feel free to get this thing to work for the Firefox searchbar!

Sincerely, tlrg from Erfurt.

hi!

I really like keyboardr.com! It’s a very cool and useful concept.

Would it be possible to configure it to search in the ‘local google’, e.g. for me the Hungarian one. (I mean, if I search google it usually includes ‘rls=hu-hu’ in the url, and that’s why the google main page gives me different results than keyboardr, and I prefer that one)

thanks!

Hi! I stumble here to, and I really like the searcher. I posted it into my blog http://frikiorgulloso.com/esto-si-que-puede-reemplazar-a-google/ (in spanish, sorry). Well, I hope you can implement languajes (as zsombor says) and that you can implement the search bar feature in FF soon (it is really important to me)

This is awesome. Can you adopt a search field that is better positioned on the page a la google/yahoo? I think it would really help usability 100%, since entering my search term is the first thing I do on the site, and the thing I want to do the fastest.

Cheers!

Hi Julius,
So long, Jannis / Xjs.

It’s great! Just only one thing, I’m gonna put that as first page, is the popup that necessary? Can you just provide an “in page” link to the search result? What’s the point in keeping it opened?

hello,
I tried keyboardr on my mobile phone, windows mobile 6, on three platforms : it works perfectly with Opera 9.5 beta, but it won’t work on IE6 and Skyfire. So if you could do something, especially for Skyfire…
thank you

When I saw this, I thought, “oh cool idea, etc.” thinking I would never actually replace my trusty personalized Google homepage with this blank atrocity! Seconds later, I gave it a whirl, and realized that I will promptly be replacing my google start page with this!

It’s like having the simplicity of the iPhone/filtered search results without all that slow touch-screen bullshit… Nice work!

Just found this today and it’s just SO great. It needs some more work, of course, but all the basics seem to be done.

What I feel it needs are more customization options. More search engines, maybe the option to add custom ones (the ContextSearch extension does this, also the Chrome search engines manager).

And some layout options (iGoogle style?), because I have a wide monitor and I’d like to have the results on separate columns.

Anyway, keep up the awesome work, and thx
